As we close out the year, there is much to look forward to in 2023 for ASATT and the profession. In my last address, I briefly described my vision for my presidential year and where I see the profession going next year as we evolve. Continuing on that trend, several things from 2022 have excited me about what 2023 has in store for the profession.
As we close out the year, there is much to look forward to in 2023 for ASATT and the profession. In my last address, I briefly described my vision for my presidential year and where I see the profession going next year as we evolve. Continuing on that trend, and several things from 2022 have excited me about what 2023 has in store for the profession.
One is the passage of the Practical Experience Pathway in October. As a fellow professional and educator in the anesthesia technology space, this new pathway will profoundly benefit our colleagues and profession. The new pathway answers questions on how we grow programs across the country and establish a defined pathway for experienced anesthesia technicians to attain certification. Ultimately, this process further assists in the standardization of the profession.
Two, the relationship building between ASATT and our other anesthesia partners has me excited for 2023. Since assuming the presidency with ASATT, I have had great conversations with the AAAA, ASA, and AANA on the state of the organization and its future growth. 2023 will yield more dialogue and action to strategically place the anesthesia technology profession in a place for growth and advancement.
Third, the foundational growth of our State component societies. During ASATT Evolution 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas, I had the pleasure of speaking on what the development of state component societies could do in our collective efforts to attain licensure and broader acceptance of the ASATT Scope of Practice. I am excited to share that since the conference, I have met with leaders in Massachusetts, Texas, and Georgia regarding developing these state-component societies. As we approach 2023, I look forward to meeting with more stakeholders across the country to create these societies.
Additionally, I am excited about the growth of the profession's accredited programs. In 2019, the profession had three accredited programs; today, we have eleven fully accredited programs. Seeing this many programs is exciting for a profession that relies on advanced technology to prepare students. Coupled with the strong leadership at the CoA-ATE and the Practical Experience Pathway, I am confident we will see more programs begin development in 2023.
I want to thank you all for your hard work and commitment to excellence, and I wish you all a happy holiday season.
